Thread count

Thread count is another important factor that one must take into account when purchasing cotton bed linen. It simply means how many threads both length-wise and width-wise are woven into a square inch of fabric. The finer threads of Egyptian cotton allow more threads to be woven into each square inch and in turn produce a softer and finer material. As a rule thumb, the higher the thread count, the better the quality of the cotton bed sheets. A thread count higher than 180 is considered good and 200+ is considered percale.
Although thread count is an important factor for defining the quality of bed linen, but there are other factors as well that are more important for measuring the quality, comfort, and value. These factors include the type of cotton, feel of the fabric, and the type of finishing process.
